About

This site is devoted to making free course notes and revision materials available to A Level students and teachers of Religious Studies. The focus will initially be on the Edexcel syllabus but a good deal of the content will hopefully also be of considerable use to those following other Advanced Level courses, including AQA Philosophy A Level.  Some material may also overlap with aspects of the ground covered in International Baccalaureate Philosophy courses.

Thus far, every topic on the Edexcel syllabus for Paper 2 (Religion and Ethics) has been covered, as well as some topics for Paper 1 (Philosophy of Religion) and 4B (Christianity). In many instances accompanying revision tests have also been created, as well as Extension materials.

Additionally, attention is occasionally be drawn to old and new publications that offer fresh or unusual perspectives on topics taught at this level. and issues and controversies to do with the wider world of religion and philosophy are discussed. Mention is also made of useful multimedia resources (videos, movies, novels, poems etc.) that relate to this kind of territory.

NOTE THAT THERE IS NO CONNECTION BETWEEN THIS WEBSITE AND EDEXCEL THEMSELVES. THE CONTENT IS AUTHORED BY A FORMER TEACHER WHO IS SIMPLY MAKING SOME OF THE RESOURCES THEY CREATED DOWN THE YEARS AVAILABLE TO THE WIDER WORLD. ALTHOUGH THEY TAUGHT THE EDEXCEL RELIGIOUS STUDIES SYLLABUS FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS OF THEIR CAREER (AND PREVIOUSLY THE OCR AND AQA COURSES), THEY HAVE NO FORMAL CONNECTION TO THE EDEXCEL BOARD AND THE CONTENT OF THIS SITE SHOULD IN NO WAY BE UNDERSTOOD AS BEING APPROVED BY EDEXCEL. THE USE OF THE TERM ‘EDEXCEL’ IN POSTS HERE IS SIMPLY AN INDICATION THAT THE CONTENT RELATES PRIMARILY TO THE PRESENT EDEXCEL SYLLABUS.
